“Our objective was to equip the new Large Animal Handling Facility with a highly adaptable system that could be configured with ease to accommodate a wide range of practical teaching and examination requirements.
Insight collaborated with us to design and implement a state-of-the-art video and audio network solution to meet these needs. The installation team demonstrated exceptional commitment, ensuring the system was fully operational within the project deadline.
The resulting system has been very well received by users. It enables enhanced teaching experiences through the use of live video feeds from the laboratories and provides a seamless means of distributing content to any display throughout the facility.”

The Client
The Royal Veterinary College is one of the world’s leading veterinary institutions, recognised for excellence in teaching, research, and clinical care. The new Boltons Park Farm development, located just down the road from RVC’s Hawkshead Campus in Hertfordshire, is a flagship site designed to support innovative, hands-on veterinary education.
The Brief
RVC needed a flexible, future-ready AV system to support a wide range of teaching styles and environments — from labs and classrooms to meeting spaces and an outdoor teaching barn.
With different lecturers preferring different workflows, the system had to be simple to use but adaptable enough to handle any source, to any destination, for both video and audio — and all within a controlled budget.
The Solution
Insight Visual Systems designed and delivered a fully networked AV solution built on BirdDog NDI technology, allowing video and audio to be routed anywhere across the building with minimal latency.
Every display and audio zone has its own decoder, meaning content from any source — a PC, laptop, or Mersive Solstice device — can be sent to any screen or space. For example, whatever’s happening in the wet lab can be broadcast live to the outdoor teaching barn.
The Dante-based microphone system adds even more flexibility, allowing staff to pair microphones in different areas as needed and manage the setup on the fly depending on the session.
Everything is controlled through Q-SYS, giving staff a consistent, easy-to-use interface with the freedom to adapt the system to their own teaching preferences.
The Results
The result is a connected, intelligent AV environment that transforms how teaching is delivered at Boltons Park. Lecturers can share content anywhere, link spaces for live demonstrations, and switch setups in seconds — all supported by robust, reliable technology that’s built to evolve with their needs.
