Signal processing is necessary to enable a solution to standardise and integrate different source material – both analogue and digital into a single signal type, that can then be distributed accordingly.

Signal processing covers both the visual component of the source and also the audio component, and in a system the visual and audio may need to be split (video and audio is carried on a single HDMI cable for example), or combined so that a system works as the client requires.

Visual signal processing will cover source conversion, scaling, switching and distribution.

Audio signal processing will cover source de-embedding, source embedding, audio conversion and scaling, digital signal processors, switching and distribution.
