Many
presenters need portable equipment that can be set up and used anywhere
in the world. Manufactures have recognised this trend and now offer
a number of products that allow you to present on the road, using
different media.
Data
projection is clearly the favoured option as it allows direct presentations
from your laptop PC. The projectors most suited to the portable
environment are the light weight 1.6kg projectors such as the NEC
150. However many people decide to balance the weight with a higher
light output such as the Epson EMP
730 which is 1.9kg but 1500 ansi
lumen.
There
is also a trend in producing projectors that have flash card slots
so that presentations can be downloaded onto the flashcard and presented
without the need of a laptop PC. IBM have recently launched a micro
drive system that allows you to store 1Gb of information on a flash
card, so projectors such as the Epson EMP
730 and NEC
LT220 offer a real option to the presenter.
Other
media choices have offered portable solutions for some years. OHP's
have been around for a long time and the best of the portable products
would be the Geha Vision
E Portable OHP. Any 35mm projector can be used in a portable
environment and the most competitive product at the moment is the
Elmo
Shoman 253. For video reproduction the only option is a Combi
unit such as the Orion
1499, that combines both video and TV/monitor into one.
